Morpheus – collission detection system

Morpheus – collission detection system

Results course “Embedded Systems
Single project 7/17

Morpheus is a wheelchair collision detection system that gives the user safe, collision-free movement.
The system includes several ultrasonic sensors as well as two microcontrollers and 3D printed mounts and boxes to detect potential dangerous objects and recognize reliably

Due to the not always possible all-round visibility and the lack of flexibility, wheelchair users in particular have to deal intensively with their environment in order to be able to minimize potential sources of danger right from the start.

But this is not always sufficient. Even the smallest objects in the immediate area of the wheelchair can be a great danger when maneuvering.
The system was developed to ensure the user’s safety and to protect the wheelchair in particular in dangerous situations.

The solution to this problem is Morpheus – a collision detection system for wheelchairs.
The individually wheel-mounted sensors on the wheelchair detect objects that are closer or farther away, and alert the user in case of danger.

The setting and configuration of the system is possible by a smartphone app.
